Located 3km from the sea on Kangaroo Island, Cape d'Estaing Wines has created wines highly acclaimed by Robert Parker in the US since 1998.
The partners in Cape d’Estaing have a very strong belief that low yields produce the best wines and are very careful to slow the growth of the vines between flowering/fruit set and veraison. This produces desirably small berries with very high skin area to juice ratio.
The vineyard is in a relatively low rainfall area on tough and hard soils. The normally hot summer South Australian northerlies are moderated by the sea and help to create a very mild and unique micro-climate.

The wine shows rich cabernet flavours with a strong middle palate and a lingering finish supported by grainy, obvious tannins.

Quite a deep, bright red with a lovely combination of lifted plummy fruit with some gentle charry oak.The palate is rich and lingering. The berries are still there, tannins are quite firm, although now starting to round off, and the oak is sweet and pleasant.
